I would cut a 45 degree on the end of the pipe to soften the note.
I rode 10 hours each way in a truck with no muffler--except for the
deafening noise reflected off the trailer we were pulling--you never
know it had a straight pipe. :)
The muffler needs to under the box and not the cab to help also the
hangers need to be the stock ones.
