Anyway, reading the post I made I just realized that there are a few
unclear points, and a couple I left out.
The computers I'm talking about, a lot of them have their inputs and
outputs. That means you don't need the board you were pointing at.
That's a decision point for you.
Another thing, I never mentioned speed. Most of these tiny
controllers are very slow. They may be fine for your application, but
most of them I don't think would be good enough for mine, at least in
a major control function on a high speed hovercraft. These systems
are probably fine for you to start with, and then you can make
decisions about whether they're fast enough for what you have in mind.
The term for what we're talking about is single-board controller, or
SBC.
There are a lot of embedded systems using the PC-104 form factor. You
can get anything from slow (and cheap) stuff all the way up to a core
duo 2.4 ghz processor, and probably faster. You're gonna pay though,
and these systems usually don't supply their own power so you'll
probably need a supply.
