One thing to remember is that the air coming off the fan/propeller
blades does so in a swirling corkscrew pattern. The thrust does not
come straight out like some kind of jet thrust, it's a sprial.

I had to add horizontal elevators (wings) above and below the rudders
so I could go in a straight line.

The hovercraft kept wanting to turn to one side all the time.

Ever try to zig-zag a hovercraft in a straight line?

I guess you have, and now you know (smile).
