Hoversprite

by "Allan F Damp" <eandfdamp@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 27, 2008 at 10:07 PM

Back in the 1960s, someone in the UK took a Sprite travel trailer and made
a
hovercraft out of it. I remember seeing a photo of it proceeding down the
River Thames at about 10 knots.

There was a tubular gantry on the roof with and engine and propeller. The
rudders were outside the kitchen window. The lift engine and fan were in
the
kitchen with a hole in the floor for the fan air to blow down and I think
it
had a simple curtain-type skirt.

I mentioned it to an RV friend a few days back and he thinks I'm kidding.
I
found one web reference, which contained what looks like a publicity
hand-out, but it didn't show the device actually flying.

If any of our British contributors can point me at a copy of the picture I

remember, I'd appreciate it. I think it was in a UK magazine associated
with
the weekly Flight International.
