  Larry and Tesla would

Magnets aren't a source of energy, they're the source of a field. In
order to transfer energy to the wire, you have to move the wire or the
magnetic field. The work that goes into moving the wire or magnet is
greater than the work you can get from the electricity. The magnet is
not providing energy, it's like a lever or a catalyst. The magnet
never gets weaker, so it isn't providing energy.

If you have time to do this and the curiosity, then great. I've
already spent my curiosity on this exact topic. At this point in my
life, I have only so much time and very little of it is able to be
used for recreation, even on things I already have going. I haven't
been able to work on my hovercraft for weeks, and I haven't been out
on it yet this summer. After all my required stuff gets done, then
hopefully I can spend some time on things like getting my hovercraft
wet. If I get bored with that and the list of other things I dabble
in, then maybe I'll look for something new.
