Hi Jon,
Go to alt.binaries.pictures.s****ts.ocean
I've posted some photos there of the bracket and housing I made for my VHF
so I
can use it in the cabin, and also out on the bridgedeck next to my RADAR
and GPS
chartplotter, which are also mounted in a similar way. The housing is
easily
strong enough to stand on. I extended the power and antenna cables about 5
feet,
which gives me a lot of latitude for moving the radio to the other side of
the
cockpit if needed.
Once the boat is in the water, I'll post some pix of all of them in use so
you
can see how it works out.
I have some other interesting little starboard projects that I haven't
photographed. One is a 2 piece genoa pre-feeder. You can split it apart to
clamp
on the bolt rope at any point. Commercial pre-feeders that open like this
are
about $50. I made it from a small scrap of starboard in about 15 minutes.
I did
it freehand without any plan. I may draw a pattern and write it up for
Good Old
Boat, or somebody like that if I find the time. They would probably like
my VHF
setup, too. I'd have to make another one and take step by step photos if
they
want that one.
