Re: Water generator or Solar power questions

by "Awsome" <awsome7@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Nov 12, 2005 at 02:35 PM

I am using two solar panels and a wind generator in my power boat. Solar
panels are from Sharp company with 208 watts each and wind generator I
made
by myself, getting around 500 watts with just 8-10 miles wind and 900
watts
with 15-20 miles wind. Both Solar panel produces around 400 watts in
bright
sunny day. I have shore power on board but just as a backup source, I try
to
relay on my own on board resources and so far it is working pretty good
for
me. May be at some latter stage I will add two more solar panels to get
another 400 watts. Each solar panel is like $800 kinda expensive.

Back to your question about marine generator, I had thought about it too
but
when I compared the benefits and disadvantages, I gave it up. Too little
power output as compare to drag and speed. reduction. My solar panels and
wind generator are producing enough power to let me run my refrigerator
24/7, plus I can use my washer n dryer as well when getting peek power on

windy and bright sunny day without firing my diesel generator or using
shore
power.
