Colin Archer design

Good Day All,
My partner and I have fallen in love with a vessel the "Kathleen Gillette"
she is based on a Colin Archer design.
http://www.anmm.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=162&c=315
I am trying to decide to build either Little Ranger or Thistle-
http://www.atkinboatplans.com/
these two vessels I believe are the closest
to the design that we have fallen in love with. I know that this will be a
long term project but I am willing to put in the hard Yakka. I would like
to
know what is the building method of most of the Atkin designed double end
vessels and would anybody know of a website that has construction pics of
such vessels. I would appreciate any and all advice. Most of my expirence
with boat building has been with plywood and small sailing dinghies with
glass coating. Also what power loss do you get if you choose to install a
marconi style rig, will increasing the main and jib size make up for not
using a ketch design? Thanks
