What they call polyurethane varnish is what I meant - just plain old 
varnish with urethane powder. 2 pack polyurethane I don't like the 
hassle with brushes and mixing and the narrow working time. Epoxy (even 
though I am going to try and save my rotting timber with it) - hate the 
fumes mostly, along with all the things I don't like about urethanes. 
And those semi-permanent type finishes are a pain when they are damaged, 
you either have a scar or try and get it all off which is harder than 
with trad. finishes.
