You know, these weather systems never cease to amaze me!
I remember living up north, near Cairns, and we always had the threat of
Cyclones about.
While the cyclone is anywhere to the north of you the weather was always
driving rain and wind. BUT as soon as it passed to the East of you the
weather starts to clear and once south (or SE) of you the weather almost
becomes perfect again.
The difference in the weather between the cyclone being 200kms to the
north
or 200kms to the south is just amazing.
The same goes for these Tropical Lows we have had.
The second system that was coming in from out on the Coral Sea was
bringing
wind and rain to us (on top of what the system to the north of us was also
bringing.).
BUT as soon as the second system started to drift to the south of us, and
the first system petered out, our weather improved dramatically,
overnight,
from driving wind and rain to blue skys and light winds.
So while we ventured down to the beach yesterday afternoon to enjoy the
now
reasonably calm seas, blue skies and warm conditions, just 200kms to the
south of us were copping an absolute flogging with the Gold Coast worst
hit
and still with renewed Severe Weather Warnings out.
Today we are finally taking the boat out for a sail!! Thats something I
would not have even contemplaited 2 days ago!!
So today, while we go sailing in almost perfect conditions, the Gold Coast
and northern NSW are putting up with heavy wind and rain, flooding and all
sorts of wild sea's!!
It really does prove the mariners weather theary of ALWAYS passing
cyclones
and tropuical lows to the north if possible.
