Some time ago,at my favourite local sailing club, they shunned about 150
Cat
sailors and family who wanted to host their title there. I remember the
letter of request being read out at a General Meeting, then the committee
laughing and commenting "As If"
All this at a time when the club was seeking money to get the toilets
upgraded and really could have done with the Dosh. But there was no way
they
would host the comp. I asked "what is wrong with cat money" the answer was
a
pile of dribble about Cat sailors.
I guess the stereotype is that they are younger and therefore wilder
compared to TY sailors for example. But they are no younger and wilder
than
sailors on 12ft skiffs or 49ers who they would have been happy to host.
The money went to another club on Lake MacQuarie instead and the club
waited
another two years to get the new loos. Go figure.
