Finally got all my stuff from whitworths. Everything was nicely
packaged, and the postage was very reasonable considering the bulk and
weight of the box. The only bummer; I had asked the guy to make sure
that the bracket i ordered was suitable for the air horn I ordered.
It isnt. No big deal since it was only 6 bucks, but it would have
been nice.....
On a side note, I ordered my fibreglassing supplies through FGI on
Thursday.
http://www.fgi.com.au/
I found the website pretty crappy... I didnt read all the manuals
etc, but there were no prices or detailed information on the products
i was interested in. I placed my order by phone through the
Townsville branch. The guy who answered the phone was courteous,
quick, and knowledgeable. The whole conversation took about 10
minutes from go to stop including giving my credit card details and
address. i ordered some cloth, tape, resin, two types of hardener,
some filler, some acetone and a roller. The guy who took the order
gave excellent advice on exactly which weights and types of products
were suitable for what i wanted, could quote prices for everything off
the top of his head, was very knowledeable about the entire process
and talked me out of buying a couple of things that he said i wouldnt
need. The ordered was packed and posted the next day at a postage
rate of $25 (!) for 10 litres resin, 25 sq metres cloth, 2 litres
hardener, 1kg of filler, 4L acetone, this would have to come to about
20kg, so this is a cheap postage rate by my standards (townsville-
mount isa).
i cant say what the other FGI stores are like, but based on my
experience, the townsville branch was very helpful.
