Some good advice.
On my boat I actually have a 3 battery set up. 2x House Batteries and 1x
Engine battery.
It is just the 2 house batteries I am thinking of replacing.

A further advantage to the ones already mentioned, is the ability to
have a 'start' and a 'house' battery if you go with 2x12V. This is
the way that a lot of boats setup because if you are sleeping on the
boat you will want power during the night but will probably also want
to start your engine in the morning. Going with 2x12 means you can
have 1,2,or both batteries being used at a time, and (just as
im****tant!) can also cahrge 1,2, or both. You can also have
completely independant redundant systems this way, with critical items
wired in to one battery, and luxuries on the other.
