We went out last evening after work for a few hours, and dinner on the
water. Light winds and almost flat seas, which worked out well, as I
had to show the Admiral how to do a few new things, such as deploy and
retrieve the new Sail Cradle system.
The Sail Cradle (variation on lazy jacks) worked like a charm, and she
marveled at what a help it will be when I'm single handing, or we have
to strike the main in rough conditions. It will also be nice in
situations where the wind keeps going up and down. If there is even a
little breeze, I would much rather sail. It won't be a big deal to
just raise and lower the main as often as needed, rather than giving
up in frustration and just motoring. I hate when that happens!
Saw something unusual out there. It was partly cloudy, and there was a
large circular rainbow around the sun. Nice way to start the season.
Two more sailboats were in the water, but neither are completely
rigged and commissioned yet.
