Re: Flare replacement

We often have flare practice on July 4th - it's technically a no-no, so we 
combine with a variety of other pyrotechnics (also probably illegal), so 
there is no confusion about distress.  My wife and I keep the "hand-fired"

flares in the pockets of our life jackets, so they are always ready, and
it 
is good to know how to fire them off, and what to expect.   It's
surprising 
how many of them are duds, even those not yet expired.
