Well Duhh. Flares are a last resort after radio, epirb, hand
signals,signal mirrors ect..ect..ect.
Stupid question Bob,

Sure there are others. One per hour with no-one in site is stupid Bob.

You can find out by googling the terms

Basic OS stuff...and you are sitting for an AB?

If you do not know, don't bother going offshore

Coming from an AB want-a be thats not so re-assuring. If all the
people that post here are as dumb as you then this place should be
pulled from the internet due to its stupity.

Good Question but has little to do with flares knuckle head. If your
an idiot like wilburs of the dock queen you get your advice from, then
you stay until everyone dies (not that wilbur will ever grow the balls
to sail out of the sight of mangroves and mosquitos). In Red Clouds
situation when it looks likes things are going to get worse with a
good chance of loss of life in bad seas, no one around for 100 +
miles, no engine, no steering, hole in the hull taking on water then
the smart thing to do is what the skipper did. He brought everyone
home alive. I'm quite sure that course of action is way beyond your
ability to understand. Most likely because your life, like wilburs is
not worth the value of any boat. The notion of going down with the
****p is only valid when the value of the ****p or it's purpose is of
more value than the lives that will be lost. If it's you in shallow
water it makes sence to stay until the boat sinks, all the other
weekend want-a be's will assit you and yours out of da mud. I can
think of dozens of others who in the same or lesser conditions died,
or killed crew because they were not prepared like the people on Red
Cloud. You think it was an accident they all got home safe, or did
they have all the proper tools needed to survive? I know for a dumb
AB want-a-be this is way deeper then you will ever understand, but
after a few weeks at sea you might get a glimmer of a clue.
BTW you should Up Oars and get your sticking worthless self to
lifeboat school. With your lack of the basic knowledge as demostrated
in your following question about which flare to use you have lots and
lots of work to do boy.

They did not ask if you should hold a burning flare over a liferaft,
or point the rocket flare up either.
Wonder why Bobble head Bob?
