I discovered usenet (and was a news administrator as well) before there
was 
trn.  It was just rn then and something called "notes".

I use a dedicated usenet client (xnews) pretty much exclusively but might 
resort to a web based client like google groups if I was somewhere where
the  
nntp ****t was blocked.  Last week I was at a hotel all week that had a few

****ts blocked and the internet access was pretty spotty in general. 
Still, 
it was better than I expected it to be.  The hotel was in Zambia.
