I'm probably drinking too much coffee again, but now you've got
me going on the idea of some sort of semi-sea anchor integrated
into the calf strap.

Calf strap comes undone, boat pulls it through the water,
something-or-other deploys itself to reduce the boat's speed.

Naw.... too complicated....
