Interesting thread - and it hasn't totally degenerated to name-
calling!

I suspect that it is possible to build a windmill-powered boat that
will sail at 0 deg to the true wind.  If everyone is agreed that it's
possible to windmill-sail at 90 to the wind then what about 80 degrees
or 70 degrees?  I can't see where the boundary condition is.  With
conventional sails you can sail upwind up to 45 ish degrees when there
is a clear point at which it stops working.  At what wind angle would
a windmill-boat be forced to tack?
