I understand what you mean.
My predicament is that, in Danish we do have an excact term for the
uneven beat or tack where one leg is significantly longer than the
other. You can see a very specific example of this difference in the
green rectangle on my map at:

When you think about how long back the maritime traditions and history
of both our countries goes, it is strange that a short term for this
tackingmanoeuvre, so well know to all sailors, only exists in Danish.

That's "Short-tacking", isn't it?
