Since about a week ago when uk.rec.sailing was delisted because it has so
few posts that it officially meets the definition of a dead group, it is
now only being carried by a handful of backbone news server providers.
If you don't see any new posts or if your posts fail to be posted it is
probably due to the fact that your news service provider is connected a
backbone server that has de-listed uk.rec.sailing. In other words your
post
is accepted by your NSP but it goes no further and is not propagated
beyond
the point at which it was posted.
Like most alt. groups, uk.rec.sailing has failed because fewer and fewer
individuals participated. In other words there was limited need for such a
group. The usual reasons for this include 1) a dearth of useful
information, 2) troll infested, 3)severe decline in reader****p hits, 4)
excessive use if filters and killfiles, 4) recent uptick in spam posts,
and
5) ethnocentric leanings of some subscribers who attempted to exclude
anybody but those posting from the United Kingdom.
Alternatives to your de-listed group include alt.sailing.asa,
rec.boats.cruising, alt.sailing and rec.boats.
Long live the Queen!
