If being in the water mattered windsurfers wouldn't hold the water speed 
record.

Unlike them, however, L'hydroptère is entirely sup****ted by the water. 
The fact that the hull is a funny shape - specifically, with wing bits 
on the bottom - and is entirely planing, not displacement, is surely 
irrelevant.
