the problem is that although the engine only has a couple of hundred
hours on it - the controls are 40 years old

the forward and reverse linkages to the gear box have shaken
themselves to peices

like any boat I could throw thousands of pounds at it without sailing
a yard

another person who made the same journey told me that you wil break
something every day for the first few weeks and then  the boat gets
better and better

that is the plan
